I changed the name of my blog. Why? Because I didn't like the title. I never did. I changed it on a whim after I got here and it ended up being that for over a year. And I never liked it. Plus, I don't think it really fit the content of this here blog.
This blog if random, filled with very random things because I am random. I would have called it Random Thoughts, but that was the title of my blog in college. (Well, Random Thoughts of a Relic...but whatever.)
I found my camera charger.
Guess where it was?
I bet you won't believe me when I tell you.
No, it wasn't in a drawer I had looked in all ready.
No, it was not in the downstairs pantry where we just shove things that are not food.
No, it wasn't in the sewing room in the file cabinet which doesn't open.
It was in a closet.
But not any closet I'd think it'd be in.
I found it in the walk in closet in the master bedroom.
Mixed in with my pjs.
Yeah. It was burried in the little shelf where I store all my pjs. I found it yesterday when I cleared out the closet, which was depressing. Mostly because I pulled out the shorts I bought when I lived in the Dirt Hole and just looking at them I knew I was way too large to fit into them.
When I bought them I thought I was big.
I was mostly sad because last summer they fit still...well, after I lost five pounds while Pilot Boy was off and away.
But they and a bunch of other things I will never again fit into all went into bags. I still clung to certain items...the jeans I got at Top Shop in Glasgow I refuse to part with...a few of the VS shirts I got I still seem to think I can manage to cram myself into at some point...I kept all sweaters my grandma had given me even if I hadn't worn them all winter...I kept a few work related thing that kind of don't really fit, but they might cut it in an emergency. (I cannot foresee needing work clothing for any reason, but you NEVER KNOW.)
I felt so crappy after cleaning the closet out, I sat on the couch and drank a huge class of hot water and then ate four oatmeal cookies. Then I spent the afternoon feeling even more crappy. I feel asleep like five times and woke up with a huge sinus headache. Which did not go away till this AM. I did not work out this morning, as my clock played a mean joke on me, then Pilot Boy came and left. I figure I'll do the relaxing yoga thing from Netflix this afternoon. Since I found the charger, I decided to take the pictures my dad and I had spoken about weeks ago, as I want to revamp my purse site with new pictures that are more uniform. So, since I had found the charger in the pjs, I decided to do that and then take pictures of my favorite shoes to use as a banner for my blog.
After taking the pictures, I realized my weak chin is about ten times worse than I had originally thought and from the side I look like I have a double chin now. It was horrible, so I cropped my head off right away. The lower half of my body looked fine, so it got to stay without too much cropping. (my dad suggested I model the purse to give people an idea of how it was worn and looks on a human being. Tragically, I'm the only one here to do this job. And I hate looking at pictures of myself...which is why I never did that before, as when I tried it out in the Dirt Hole, I spent more time staring at me than the purse and the pictures were trashed.) Now I just need to get these puppies on flickr and see what Dad thinks...I didn't do all the pictures I wanted, as I wanted to see if I was even doing it right and not getting a ton of blurry pics. Some of the shoe shoes I tried didn't go well. A few of the body pics the purse was blurry. Hopefully, soon, you'll see some new photos as I redo the site!

Operation Jeans Day Two
Workout did not occur as early as I wanted because...I....lost...a...button. And had to go to the dentist to get a new one.
Does that sound like an odd sentence? If not, read it again: I lost a button and had to go to the dentist to get a new one.
And by button I mean this little thing that holds my Invisalign braces to my teeth.
Anyways, since I forgot the things I needed to run errands as I ran out the door with my curly, frizzy hair in a pony tail and minimal makeup on, I came back and I did another mile with Leslie. Today went much as it went yesterday. Only I don't feel as...worky outy.
I ate okay yesterday. No snacks and only one oatmeal cookies. Tragically, I think the TARDIS cookie jar makes my cookies...kinda stale soft. Total sad face. :(
Well, that is it for Operation Jeans Day Two.
In other news, they plowed our street so its more than one lane again. The whole things seems so wide...its kind of crazy. I forgot how wide the street was in the first place. And someday, there might be a sidewalk again!
In Purse News: Got some brightly colored denim. Totally excited for bright, spring colors! I almost burst when I came home and was like NOW WHAT DO MAKE! I've been trying to decide if I should break into new designs, but decided to just use the ones I have and just make them cross body. Simple.
Also, thinking about doing a giveaway. With gently used purses, as I don't know what to do with the ones I test out. I have like a million purses that I've used like maybe two or three times at test purses. They are in good shape, but have a small flaw or something. I don't know anyone to give them away to, as they are FINE. Except the one I tired the magnet on the first time. It fell apart. But the one I was carrying these past few weeks has nothing wrong other than the snap is on backwards. I bet no one can tell except me.
Well, there is your news. Come back tomorrow. As it'll look the same (if I remember to update. It will be Saturday...)

Hoppy New Year
It is hoppy, because I had some beer today.
So, 2010 ended. Did you notice? I did, only because the bowl allowed Fireworks this year and they all went super wild when 2010 melted into 2011. So, I decided (while staring out my window at the darkest storm cloud known to man that won't drop any percipitation on me) I need to write a "retrospective" kind of post. I used to do this sort of post at the end of a school year, but seeing I no longer attend school, I have moved to to year end. So here goes.
This year....
...I moved to Alaska.
...I sold 12 purses. Meaning during the time I was open from May 09 till Dec 09 I sold more.
...I went to the dentist twice.
....I did not go to the eye doctor, only because I went so often in 2009, I took a break.
...I lived in a house.
...I finally got Netflix.
...I did not have capped internet.
...I spent a great deal of time with Basil. So much so I told her we needed to see other people. She still follows me everywhere.
...I did a lot of laundry.
...Pilot Boy flew around the world.
...I "gardened" a little.
...on accident I grew organic ruharb.
...I ate sushi for the first time and now I need California rolls.
...I learned I do not like 24 hours of sunlight when the house I live in fails to realize it need a/c in order to not cause me to melt in my own home.
...I learned just because it claims to be only 50 degrees outside, doesn't mean its only 50 degrees in the sun. The sun is SUPER intense here.
...I still hated Del Rio.
...Basil knows the following words: Dinner, Breath Buster, Chummy Yummy, Walk, Ride, Outside, Potty, Good Dog, Bad Dog, Sit, Jump, Snack, Go to Bed, and Cage.
...made lots of mound shaped cookies.
...gained weight.
...I got my hair cut four times this year. At nice places.
...GOT A MAC. Who is named Lucy.
...Wrote a book about a professor and an exchange student. Will anyone read it? No. More than likely not, but I wrote it.
...I also rewrote that stupid high school story I am still working on 12 years later.
...Decided I do not mind it being dark at three pm. I get up at ten when its light out, what do I care that the sun doesn't rise till ten?
...I was unorganized in my life and in my mind.
...I discovered Basil and I have the same hair issues.
...I used Skype a lot to communicate with people. No one calls me on my actual phone. Except Pilot Boy.
...I only left the great state of Alaska once in 2010, after arriving.
...after arriving in Anchorage, I only left the city limits a grand total of 8 times. Four of those times were to go to Eagle River. One of the times I flew around in a large plane with the hatch open.
...I have turned into my mother. I do not mind.
...I watched a lot of "Doctor Who."
...I discovered "Glee."
...I watched a lot of random British TV shows I found on Netflix.
...I ended the year the way I started my year: Watching "Doctor Who."

Watch out...
Dear Post Office,
Why do you after tracking numbers? For the past month or so, anything I get or send out with a tracking number NEVER shows anything till the bitter end. This means there is no way to TRACK anything. Did you know this? Everything just shows "Electronic information received." Which is totally helpful.
This whole thing used to show when it was scanned when it arrived at the post office, telling me the post office HAD THE PACKAGE. Next, it'd tell me when it left the first post office. Now, since I live in Alaska, it usually went through Seattle, before going where ever else it was heading. Then it reached the main post office in its destination, and then it went to the local post office and finally it went out for delivery.
I know this still happens, because duh, that is how boxes move from point A to point B, but your SCANNERS DO NOT WORK. I sent out a box 5 days ago, and it stills says "Electronic information received."
Thanks Post Office.
Get your act together, Post Office. I'm paranoid you LOST MY PACKAGE. People I sent things to are PARANOID I DID NOT SEND THEM.
So, please fix your scanners. Or do something. Or don't offer tracking. Just tell us, "Well, we're poor and broke, so we threw out the scanners, so no more tracking. Sorry."
Then it'd be like in the old days where you just had to hope and pray you got the box you wanted....

Businessy Post
I've been working to re-write the copy on some of my gift bags and card sets. I'm not getting many hits on the site. I keep telling myself I am going to "advertise" and "market" myself, but then I do nothing because, well, I have no clue where to start. It is one of those drive things again.
Last holiday season, I had a "rush" of sorts. I actually was steadily selling a purse a week from late November till December. I think I sold one more purse before I closed up shop to move to Alaska. I felt "busy" during this time and I spent a lot of time driving my little Volvo to the post office. I never had to really stand in line when mailing off purses, because the boxes fit into the drop box.
This years I got my holiday items up early. I thought maybe I would have done more sales if I had gotten going on my holiday bags before November. I actually made holiday bags as an afterthought in all honesty. I was walking through Hancock Fabrics and they had a 50% sale on their holiday prints. I was like, "OMG! Christmas BAGS!"
And that was when I began making the bags. I think I bought most of the material a few weeks before Thanksgiving. I do remember I was working on them before the actual "holiday" season began, so my mother didn't want to hear Christmas music while I was working on my holiday stuff.
This year, I have a stock pile of stuff. I have the bags I had left over from last year and the paper items I made in...late September - early October. I will tell you this: Christmas stuff is hard to come by in September. Or early October. Most of the paper stuff was geared at Halloween and the fall. I remember when I wanted that sort of thing (when I made my wedding scrapbook) I was hard pressed to find ANYTHING like that. I was in the dirt hole and only had Wally Martinos to shop at, but still. Last fall I desprately wanted to re-do the scarpbook with the fall theme colors I wanted.
I never redid it. Because I realized how much it'd cost me. Paper is expensive.
Which bring me to another issue I have had with my card sets: price.
The stickers I use on them are EXPENSIVE. Like four bucks a set for most of them. The paper I used all came in a set or cost 75 cents a sheet. I wanted to faint when I bought the supplies. Last year when I made the gift bags for my family, everything I got was on sale. Also, things are cheaper in the lower 48. So, I priced them a little higher than I wanted.
I didn't sell a thing. They even had low hits. I mean, the cards and bags never did get many hits (except the Love Bird Bag, which I didn't want to post because I felt it was kinda lame). I have actually only sold one gift bag. I don't know if the person got it because they were an international customer and they never left feedback. But the convo response I got after I sent out the notice I had mailed it, it sounded like the person was excited. But the cards and gift bags kind of seem to be a small bust.
Which I expected. If I needed that sort of thing, I'd just make it myself. I just like making those sort of things a lot. And, well, I had planned to make my own holiday cards, but one of Pilot Boy's relaitves got us cards to send out this year. Kinda of like last year when my mom appeared with Christmas cards last year. But god, those were cute. They had a picture of Basil Bea with a big red nose and hat. Well, the dog looked a lot like Basil Bea. Basil Bea wrote the holiday letter too. I think I'll do something like that again this year for our holiday cards. I guess I should be working on that too...
Well, that is all.

I'm Here.
I have arrived at my final destination. Whoo. Hoo.
The trip up here was rather uneventful.
1. We did not die.
2. We did not drive off the road.
3. We did not freeze to death (it was "warm" most of the way).
4. There was no "weather" to speak of at all.
5. We arrived a whole day early.
So, I am here. We have a place to live, but can't move in for another month. During that time I can get my stuff together to launch the shop back up. I've been trying, via the slow internet, to research how to "close" the shop in Illinois (of course its not as clear as opening, or as clear as closing in Texas), so I will have to call them. This gives me a sinking feeling because, alas, Illinois can't do anything right it seems. Case in point, we're still waiting on plates for the new car. For two months. We have a temp plate, but seriously, why does it take so long to process and application for plates? It is not like I'm trying to transfer my pharmacy license. (I processed those applications at one point in my life.) Anyways, then I need to set myself up here. Fun will be had. Someday.
So, there is another mini update.

long time no post, huh?
I am in the mists of moving. Again. This time it is like the end of college, when it comes time to pack up your dorm room and move home for the summer. It is like the room I live in is a dorm room. And I have no clue how to pack what is in it. I did not think I obtained much while I was here for five months, but I guess I did. I managed to pack up all the clothes I can live without yesterday into one large suitcase. It is not full yet, which is good.
Today I went through various things that have gathered under the bed and to the side. I'm not sure how to pack those items. Things that are not clothing, I am not sure how to pack. I am trying once again not to take much, which the last time I tried that failed. The items did not fit in the car, the dog was sitting on top of my purses and her head was against the ceiling of the car. I wound up taking a bunch of things out (like all her toys and the car cleaning stuff and the sheets and pillows). This time that is not an option. The dog will need her toys and I cannot leave any behind as I am going to Alaska. No one wants to mail me anything in Alaska. Or bring things to me.
Being in the mists of getting ready to move, I have not been sewing at all. The sewing machine was put away for Christmas and was never brought back out. I had all ready packed away all the cloth when I cleaned up for Christmas, so I figured it was easier if I just left it packed. Thus, I have been sort of ignoring my shop, which is bad. I shouldn't ignore it, but I do. I have re-newed a few thing, but nothing new posted. Mostly because the few purses I hadn't posted before Christmas, I never got around to taking pictures of to post.
But, once I get settled, I plan to begin sewing again (husband has been instructed to get the sewing machine out of storage, so it will be on hand in case our belongings take forever to reach us). So, hopefully, I will be rolling out the summer line soon after I arrive at my final stop.
So, that is your update.

Holiday Cheer
I used to work retail when I was in high school. Right after Thanksgiving the Christmas music would start and it would not end till after the new year. I loved Christmas music till I listed to the same loop of songs for two Christmas's. I also hated working during the holiday season and grew to hate Christmas all together. The magic was lost on my 17 year old self.
I did not get it back until later in life. It still is not all back, as I do not enjoy wrapping presents as I once did, nor do I enjoy decorating for Christmas as I once did. I also dread shopping at Christmas time. I seriously dread going to the post office or stores in general.
This is why some relatives fail to get gifts in a timely manner.
This year as seen me making holiday theme purses. I have been up to my eye balls in the holidays since right after Thanksgiving. I should have been before, but I failed. I just could not get myself into the spirit. I actually started making the holiday theme purses before Thanksgiving, but I did not start soon enough. I guess at least next year I can get going before Halloween. I'll be in my own house next year, so I can get in the spirit with music. This year, my mom wasn't too keen on holiday music till after Thanksgiving.
I think I might have screwed up the iTunes installation. I might have to...make new play lists. Oh no. It might be good for me, in reality. I've had the same play lists since I got my first laptop, also known as Jess, when I was 20. I'm six years older now (Oh no!) and don't really need the play lists that are mostly centered around guys leaving me, being depressed or being over zealously happy. The lists are still on Jess, so I might just transfer over the useful ones.
Oh, holidays. I think I am tired of you all ready and you haven't even started yet.

I think I am tired of you all ready and you haven't even started yet.

major bust-a-mundo
Well, the whole sale was a bust. Only one person used the code, and that one person had all ready ordered a purse, thus I "technically" had the sale all ready. Such is life.
I spent the whole day running around from fabric store to fabric store in look for what I had in my head for the next custom order. (I heart custom orders, they give me a challenge!) I finally found what I was looking for at Hobby Lobby and happily told the cutting lady there. She guessed right away what I was making. I lost track of the people who told me they like my festive purse (which in all honesty is pretty crappy, as the interfacing I used wasn't thick enough for the size of the bag I made, but I was going to carry it, so it was okay. I think the print distracts people.) Anyways, I've been working on more purses, but I think the holiday ones aren't going to sell. I should have gotten them up earlier. At least they'll be around next year early!
A few days ago, my mom and I drove out to a near by suburb to go to a spice store (I can't remember the name, it begins with a P). We were shopping for sprices for my husband, as Pilot Boy likes spicy things. Also, the store had just come out with a taco spice, and we could use some taco spice. Who knows how our spices will be after spending all this time in a storage unit in the Dirt Hole. However, the highlight of the trip was the pet botquie I got my mom to go to. Called Two Bostons, it was SO COOL. I loved the place. The lady came right up to help us after she was done doing what she was doing when we came in. She was totally helpful with finding a toy for Basil Dog that would keep Basil Dog happy. I ended up getting Basil Dog a huge gingerbread man chew toy that is made for super chewers. O.M.G. Basil Dog LOVES IT TO DEATH. She even took it to bed with her last night. Later, she kicked out the Gingerbread man, but she loves it. And for a soft chew toy, its still in one piece, which for Basil Dog is real good. She usually unstuffs soft toys in a matter of hours. She did get a hole in the head, but she mostly just attempts to run with it, and fails because the toy is as big as she is. But she will play, and play, and play with it. And she loves when you hold it up above her head and she's gotta jump up to get it. God, does she love that! I haven't enjoyed the holidays for the past few years till this year. All sorts of doors open up when you've got a dog and you make purses. I also realize I love buying fabric today, but I sort of knew that all ready. Part of the reason I began making purses.
It sort of attempted to snow the past two days here and the cold weather is really here. Basil was rather confused by the snow, but for the most part she ignored it. She LOVES the cold. My parents took her for a walk today while I was shopping and she was SO HAPPY. My mo was worried about her little paws, but she didn't seem to notice the cold sidewalks or anything. I met her after she was done with her walk (she was pulling so hard, my mom let go of the leash to advoid another dislocated thumb, yeah, Basil dislocated my mother's thumb....) She ran up to me and was SO HAPPY. But, Basil B Dog has had a very good day in general.
We had roast chicken. Basil B Dog loves chicken. She is a chicken loving dog.

Black Friday Bust
Well, I got my sale notice up, posted several new purses and has hardly any hits. I know there are a few more hours left in the day (not to mention the weekend), but this whole Black Friday thing has been a major bust for me. And not just sale wise.
I've been tired and freezing all day long. I fell asleep on the couch for awhile, woke up groggier than before. My back aches (still) and I seem to have come to the end of the internet. I just don't know what to do with myself.
I don't do shopping on Black Friday. I have never really been shopping on Black Friday. I think maybe once or twice I've ventured out. Once I went to Carsons on Black Friday. I remember freaking out and leaving. Last year I went to Wally Martinos. There was like no one there. I cannot remember why we went there, but we did. I remember we had a large conversation about whether to go. And one year, the first year I knew my husband, I spent Thanksgiving in Indiana and was totally bored the day after. We went to the outlet mall and I bought a Coach Wallet for 80 bucks. I also did my Christmas shopping for the most part. Also, this time, there was hardly any one around. But I've never gotten up early to go shopping on Black Friday. I went to work early once. There was a huge line. For Best Buy. Where I did not work. We were busy that day at work, but not as busy as Best Buy. That was also my first day working the service desk. Someone threw a check at me. I can't remember why.
Well, my dog zonked out on the carpet in the family room. I'm thinking she's got the right idea.

Sparkling Diamonds
Sparkling is a thing diamonds do. Period. End. Stop.
In other news, I'm still trying to figure out what sort of Black Friday sale I should have. I've got less than a week to figure it out. Oh no. I made a total of three and half purses today. A half purse, because I didn't finish the fourth one. Though I guess it could be three, as the first one I worked on was a purse I had began a couple days ago. Anyways, I have four purses to take photos of tomorrow, all holiday theme purses. I am on over load getting geared up for the holidays. I feel like I am lagging behind, that I should have started this like two months ago.
This past week has also seen me selling purses! Wow, I know! Selling purses! I have made THREE trips to the post office! I was so excited. I actually ran out of business cards! I had to print more! OMG you guys! I'm also almost out of the tissue paper I bought in the Dirt Hole those many moons ago.
I ordered wipers. They were the wrong hook up, so I had to reorder those. So, I am still without wipers. Oh well. Such is life.

Black Friday Sales
Would you believe it had not occurred to me that the actual holiday season was upon us? I know this is hard to believe due to the fact that even before Halloween was over, the Christmas decor began to come out. And never mind the fact I've been doing my Christmas shopping since September.
But it had not occurred to me that the actual season was upon us and that I should have a huge sale. I joined the Etsy Black Friday fan page on Facebook yesterday and have been inundated with sales announcements. I should put one out there, I know. I am still only on my 3rd sale (which happened on the day my life took a direction north). The summer sale I began at the end of July or at the start of August has done nothing. I haven't sold a single sale bag. Due to money, I can't really afford the 15 bucks to put an add on Heartomatic through Craft Cult. I hate the forums, mostly because I never have anything to say. I have tried many times to become "active" in the forums, but that usually leads to me obsessively checking the forum and nothing becoming of it other than it takes up all of my time. I hardly ever get an opportunity to hand out business cards, as no one ever asks me where I got my purse any more since I began carrying my own designs. Seriously, no one asks. Before, I always got asked where my purse was from, even once what my purse's name was (when I carried a Coach bag, the Coach bag).
I am at a loss.
So, I guess I will have a huge Black Friday sale and maybe I'll just bite the bullet. I've been tossing ideas around on what to do. Free shipping, 50% off second purchase, 30% off all bags? I'm not sure yet.
