A Brief History of
Ireland Scott
Ireland Scott grew up in Chicagoland (this is the land located outside of the actual city of Chicago that contains many towns no one has heard of (except of course, Cicero, which everyone knows because of Al Capone; and maybe Oak Park because of Frank Lloyd Wright)). It is, as a former Chicago Tribune columnist used to call it, “The Land Beyond O’Hare.” Foreign turf to most.

She went to Beloit
College (which is in Wisconsin, just barely out of Illinois) and got a degree
in political science (focused in Communism, how useful) and International
Economics (kind of focused on China, because they are communists...but it was
fun).
Scott has been
writing in some form since she figured out to use a pencil. Before that she
simply drew pictures. On anything – paper, walls, sidewalks, driveways, and 2x4s
that became studs in the basement walls.
In 2009, after spending too many hours having staring contests with Basil Bea, she decided to open an Etsy shop, called Ireland Scott Designs. This shop sells handbags because she couldn't figure out how to sew shoes.
